Starting myofunctional therapy at a young age to help correct bad oral habits is important for proper craniofacial development. Programs include but are not limited to helping correct thumb sucking, tongue thrust, anterior and posterior open bite, improved sleeping patterns, Tethered Oral Tissues, and open airway nasal breathing.
Our trained myofunctional therapy specialists will work with you to learn proper techniques using home exercises to improve your concerns. Retraining the muscles in your face and mouth takes time and practice.
You have myofunctional therapy questions. I can help answer them for you. We will speak over the phone and I will listen to your concerns. If you are a candidate for therapy, we will discuss the next step. If you are not quite ready, or need a referral to a medical professional first, I will offer to help guide you properly.
Note: I will not rush you off the phone upon reaching 15 minutes. Your health and concerns are mine. I am here to help you.
A comprehensive assessment includes intra and extra oral photos, range of motion measurements, proper health questionnaire, comprehensive questionnaire including habits, history, and much more. Once all information is gathered and evaluated, you will be contacted within one week, and offered treatment options.
During this eight-to-ten session therapy program, we will meet three times online or in person to practice several exercises in preparation for your surgery. After surgery, we will meet for five sessions to review prior exercises and introduce more to ensure proper healing and to prevent reattachment of the once tethered oral tissues. Each patient is unique and more appointments could be necessary to have full function.
Mini Myo is a shorter program specialized in working with select areas. This program is individualized and benefits those with the following disorders: tongue tie or tethered oral tissues, tongue thrust, jaw pain, mild sleep apnea, low tongue resting posture, postural problems, open bite, and more.
During our therapy of 12 sessions, meeting every one-two weeks, you will learn proper technique to train your facial and mouth muscles through exercises specifically chosen for your needs. This program is individualized and benefits those with the following disorders: tongue tie or tethered oral tissues, tongue thrust, jaw pain, mild sleep apnea, low tongue resting posture, postural problems, open bite, and more.
This program is designed to help the patient stop sucking their thumb or fingers. Dedication to this program is crucial to success. To ensure proper cessation of thumb/finger sucking, the patient will commit to wanting this type of treatment. Pressuring when not ready can lead to reoccurrence in addition to time and money lost. Treatment time can vary from one month (3 sessions) to six months (6 sessions). Prizes and charts are used as incentives throughout this program.
